If you're a visual person like me, having the ability to have everything you want to do and see laid out on a map right in front of you is one of the most helpful things when planning travel – especially if you're trying to decide where to stay. I use Google Maps as the starting point for planning every trip, and I won't head to the airport before using all six of these features first. Some Google Maps features like driving or walking directions might be obvious for why they're useful for travel, but there are others that if you haven't used them before can help you dial-in facets of your trip better than you wouldn't believe.
